Scholarship I - The Blumhardt Curatorial Internship
The Blumhardt Foundation and Creative New Zealand with TheNewDowse
This curatorial internship has been developed in order to nurture curatorial interest and expertise in the areas of decorative arts and design. There have been three highly successful internships to date and applications are now being called for for the 4th Curatorial Internship, to begin approximately May 2011.

- The 1st Curatorial Internship (2005-2007) was awarded to Grant Thompson. A jewellery-maker and lecturer in contextual studies at Manukau School of Visual Arts, Grant’s internship resulted in his exhibition “The Gift Exchange” which opened on 17 February 2007.

- The 2nd Curatorial Internship (2007-2008) was awarded to Jacqui Knowles. A graduate from the Canterbury School of Fine Arts, and an animator, Jaqui undertook the Internship while completing her Masters in Museum Studies. During her internship Jaqui assisted with the project ‘Of Heart & Hands: Shanti Devi and Doreen Blumhardt’ and her exhibition of ‘The Magic of Mud’ opened on 10 February 2008.

The 3rd Curatorial Internship was awarded to Reuben Friend in 2008. His exhibition ‘Plastic Māori’ opened on 14 March 2009.

Scholarship II - Blumhardt Foundation Ceramics Scholarship
with Otago Polytechnic School of Art
With a value of $5000, the Ceramics Scholarship is awarded to the student whose work the assessment panel feels “extends the material and conceptual investigations of contemporary ceramic practice”.
This Scholarship was offered for the first time in 2007/2008 and was awarded to Brian Wood. Brian used his Scholarship funding to take up an 8-week ‘residency’ with Ross Mitchell-Anyon, at the end of which he co-exhibited with artist Mike Marsh in “Fresh Produce” at the Rayner Brothers Gallery, Wanganui.
Dennis and Kaye McKinlay were the sponsors for the 2007/2008 Scholarship.
